Note from Claudian

Firstly let me introduce myself. My name is Scott, known as Claudian during my 2 years at Feenix. I am a former member of the Management team for Feenix, where I was a paid employee, working as the GM Team leader and manager of day to day operations within the community and GM team (General Manager). If you'd like to know more about me or what I did at Feenix, you can do so in this interview by Clodagh.

So, let's get to it... This will contain some of my thoughts and some information you may not have known.

Feenixes was generally a good administrator but she had her flaws. During the past 6-8 months she would go missing for days or weeks at a time due to health issues with her eyes, leaving other members of management to deal with issues in her absence. Despite being the self-proclaimed "Root Administrator" she spent less time working on this project in that time than even some lower ranked game masters. I regarded Feenixes as one of my closest friends, she was not only my boss but someone I could talk to about my issues and times in my life which were the hardest, such as my father passing away. She even bought me a birthday gift last year and had it shipped over to England from The Netherlands, and honestly, she made it one of the best birthdays I have had. However, she has not spoken to me since the day I was booted from the project and it makes me wonder if our friendship meant anything. I didn't just lose my job, I lost a dear friend and that is probably what hurts the most.

Athairne is just generally a horrible person and he can easily get away with the things that he does and says just because he is boning the owner... He'd argue with new game masters, even forcing one new recruit to quit just days after being taken into the GM team due to his degrading and insensitive comments toward her. He and I came to blows on several occasions and I would back down due to him and his wife [Feenixes] essentially being my boss. So I'll direct this next part at him: You're a low life bastard. You troll new and old members on the forum and give the staff team a bad name, yet you do absolutely nothing of use for the servers or community. You make the project and everyone who works on it look bad and you should feel ashamed of yourself. If we ever meet in real life I would be only too happy to break your jaw.

Sideways seems like a genuinely nice person. I really don't have anything bad to say about him. I do want to wish him, his girlfriend and their baby all the best in life. I hope you'll see the other members of the staff team for what they are and get out before you get stabbed in the back like I did.

Danut is a child. A power hungry, self-obsessed, control freak of a child. He is 16 years old and has been left with an extraordinary amount of power at Feenix, and it has gone to his head. The decision for my termination came directly from him due to Feenixes absence. He joined the project late last year and until I was told that he was being left in charge, I had no idea what he even did for the project, and I still don't. That is all I have to say about him really.

Database is a nice guy but I never got to know him very well. It was my job to monitor all GMs and that included Database, until he moved on to being leader of the test team. During that time however, it was discovered that he had aided some of his guild members in gaining items which they should not of had. He also knew about cases of honour farming within his guild and neglected to inform myself or other members of the management team. When what he had done came to light it was simply swept under the rug, and he even got a pay rise a short while later.

Honourable mention: (Not part of the management team) Vidotrieth is a moron, and that's all I have to say about him.

Finances:

A quick glimpse into how much money the server is really making. Bear in mind that collecting any money from running a private server is illegal!

Prices for donations vary depending on the type. For example, a simply race change which didn't include any reputation or skills cost 30 euros. All you got for that was your race changed and your gear moved.

The complete package, which includes transfer of all items, currencies, skills, mounts, pets ect cost 150 euros, which is quite absurd considering that, although it was done manually (by me), I could do it in around 15 minutes.

Despite insisting that they didn't sell legendaries or end-game raiding gear, single pieces of gear were sold for upwards of 150 euros.

As I was the person doing all of the transfers and transactions, Feenixes and I had an agreement that I would get 10% of all profits. We sometimes had donations of 100 euros and sometimes of thousands. The highest amount that I dealt with was just under 3000 euros which gave me a very nice bonus.

And on that note: Wages. I cannot speak for anyone else as everyone was paid a different wage depending on their position, however, personally I was paid 150 euros per week before any bonuses. That amount was normally increased substantially however due to the donations and transactions I was handling, as seen in this screenshot from my Paypal account:

Ending

As I never had chance to give any sort of goodbye speech or even give notice of my leaving, I will write a few words here and some shout outs to players I have had the most interaction with, or just people I noticed doing good things for the server. If your name doesn't come up, don't feel bad... I just don't know/remember you.

For the most part I enjoyed my time at Feenix. It did mean missing important parts of my life though. I missed the 1 year anniversary of my father's death due to being needed at the Emerald Dream launch. I missed the birth of my sister's baby as Feenixes insisted that I stay here due to ongoing ddos attacks, and those weren't the only moments I will never get back, but I won't go into more detail. Had I left the project on my own accord and not been pushed out without so much as a word, I would of been happy with that because I enjoyed what I did for a living. I sacrificed a lot for this project only to be stabbed in the back simply because I was sick, and that makes me feel used.

Sulfuras - One of the nicest people on the server. You made the other Russians bearable.
Drakkon - Your PUGs were the highlight of many peoples week and I thank you for being a great member of the Feenix community.

Mofoleone/two - You were very much a guy I loved to hate. Keep on trolling.
Liebe - ^ Same, can't be bothered to type it twice.
Fuj - You were a good guy and I enjoyed chatting to you on Mumble. Thanks for the tips on hackers/rule breakers.
Anyone I missed - There are so many amazing members of the Feenix community and I couldn't possibly name you all. If I missed your name, I apologise but you can refer to the following image for your "being awesome" reward.

Conclusion:

Feenix is dying. Whether you jump ship now or wait it out until the servers go down, I advise you to get out and never look back. The server management is in the worst place it's ever been in currently and the players deserve more.

For the raiders who read this, I have it on good authority that the final two bosses of Naxxramas will never be released, so I hope you don't mind waiting for eternity.
